E and I started out at 8:00 and rode to Stop & Shop . The wind on the way out was nasty to say the least . We meet the Mayor McCheese and the bubble fags. Then rolled down to SPG . I had 30 miles in when the ride left the Giant so I was good and warmed up . The ride started out at a good clip seeing as we were riding into the wind . On the back roads E and a few others were turning the screw the Mayor and I made our way up and helped out. We really got going as we approached the light at rt 68 and it turned green just as we got to it . I like that no rest for the packfill . The ride stayed hard the whole way out past the shooting range . As we came up on the turnaround E ramped it up . (we had talked about this on the way out) I hit it and pulled a little group away- Guido , Hacker and Ed . The gap was good so we kept the pressure on as we turned into the tail wind, Hacker and I were doing the bulk of work, then The Mayor came by with a head of steam (Cheese was bubbling) . Hacker looked at me like you go get him... ahhhhh . I made the dig and got on and we went to work . By the top of the hill we were gone , its easy to get pulled back on the down hill so I made sure to keep it going . We caught the light at Lowe's that let the field catch up to us , if we hadn't caught it I think that would have been the last time the pack saw us . I wasn't to broken up about it though with 3 hours in at this point I wasn't liking the idea of a 3 man pace line for the next 1/2 hour . The ride went pretty steady the rest of the way in . On the approach to the "finish" I made a big surge and got clear but Clown boy Matt was on my wheel and I didn't want to drag him to the finish and have him come by me so I eased up and Guido piped by us at the end . It was a good ride all in all . When we got back to the park I noticed that Robyn wasn't there and I know she was with us over by the green houses and thought that she may have gotten a flat or something . When she rolled in she told me that something was wrong with her head set . I adjusted it but she said it was still not right, so I got on it to see what was wrong . Holy Shit the fuckin thing would turn right then left on its own . It was like it was possessed . I could'nt let her ride it the rest of the way home, so I did the old clown on the little bike thing back to West Haven . Nice that felt awesome with 4 hours in the legs . Special thanks to Larry and Tom at Zane's for the quick fix . It had a broken top cap so fuck you Crowell I don't want to here it .

I met E , Ciocci and almost the Torch at 8am . It appears that old Torch crashed on the train tracks under the Q bridge and broke his elbow . If your from the New Haven area you know what I'm talking about. (Its OK dude alot of people including me have crashed on them .) We rode out the same way I did last week because I wanted to check out the construction near rt42 . There was noway through so we turned around and jumped on the bike path . I saw the post about getting on the path and when we were riding down it we laughed . That would be a tragic mistake . At stop & shop I found out who posted the going down the bike path comment of course the king of dumb ass comments yup you guessed it Crowell . After a little brain storming we decided to go up rt10 and turn at rt42 and hop back on the course at mountain rd . The ride was neutral until then , of course Hunter attacked after we turned right . Nice try dude theres only 30 miles to go . The ride was steady fast with a few guys getting in some motor pacing with Big Johnny . The pace was a nice change from last week if we kept that shit up I think we would all be cooked by January . At the turnaround a few guys went up the road Hacker and 2 Adinites . With a couple lights in there favor they got a good gap . We had them at the light by the train trestle but they got the light and that was that . The ride kept a steady pace the rest of the way in . The ride home was again a lesson in pain . With 15 more minutes than last week due to the slower pace I was in the locker . E and I just kept a gnawing pace so as to get home ASAP . After a coffee and cake at Starbucks Robyn and I made it home with 4.5 hours in . Thank God for compression tights .

There's a fundraiser for Officer Brian Spiotti, occasional participant in the Sleeping Giant peleton, on Sunday, Nov. 22, 12-6 pm . Pete J brings this up and I want to elaborate on this a little. Brian is a very good friend of mine going back to flag football . Fast froward to 1998 Brain became a Wolcott cop . He met and married his wife Doreen who is also a Wolcott cop . Now 1 year ago Brain was in the news for allegedly beating a prisoner . If you know Brian you would think that this was not possible he is just a nice mello guy . I have seen the tape of this beating , you can clearly see the punk saying something to the officer and taunting him by lunging at him . Brain then uses his foot to shove the perp into the holding cage. If you search on the web you can find this video and see it for your self . Its a sad world when a 27 year old , 3 time DUI known junkie has a voice in a officers livelihood . This is weighing heavy On officer Spiotti and his family . If you can help him out it would be greatly appreciated .

I rode out to Stop & Shop to meet Mike . By the time I got to the park I had 2 hours in . I didn't know what to expect so I thought the best defence was to go to the front right off the bat . The wind was going to be a factor on the way out so its best to be at the front you never know when someone will open a gap. The ride was fast and at the Ski slope Kurtie , Crowell and Petey got a little gap . With the wind and the distance to the turnaround I figured we would catch them if we just kept the pressure on . We came up on Kurtie and Crowell at the turnaround , and Mike put in a good dig on the hill . Over the top I turned the screw and E started to work with me . OK lets hear it Crowell & co , we didn't run 1 light and Big Johnny didnt motor pace us . John did trip the light for us but that was about it . We were out of site by that point anyway . We just put are heads down and just tryed to stay around 27mph the whole way in . When I hit rt 10 I had 3 hours in and was feeling it . I just dug in , once I got a good breatherover the hill and we just milled it in. Ride time was 1:20 . The way home I hit the wall hard though . 4+ hours and 75 miles . I cant wait to here the bubble tails , bring it on . A side note Big Johnny you are off Robyn's Christmas card list .

The shit weather is here to stay I think . For most of us it means one thing , the indoor trainer . FUCK I gotta move somewhere warm . Its the first week of this shit ass torture that usually gets me down . After that I just get into a rhythm and live with it . Its when the weekends suck that I get pissed . The 2 days that I can get out mean a lot . I have found that my lack of high end fitness this year was due to to many days off . I got into the I need to recover mode . If I missed a day I just shrugged it off thinking that I would be all the fresher . That didn't workout so well . As I am putting together my plan for next year I am going to stress consistency . I think I'm going to do a little more big ring stuff also . I getting to old for the small ring shit on Sunday .Its not reinventing the wheel . Hats off to all you guys drowning in a pool of your own sweat .
