The Peak

First off I want to give you a back ground on the drive up. Zane 1 got lost in West Haven again. Right off the exit three lights turn right its not rocket science. As we were going up the Mass pike it started raining and a thick fog rolled in My thought was yes , others were not so enthused Cocci). But when we got there the weather wasn't that bad , cold and windy.

Ok boys and girls here is the way the 35 plus races went down. A three man break went from the gun, but you could tell it wasn't going anywhere because we were going 15mph and they were still in sight. When we turned onto rt7 the pace went up to 16mph. By this time I was just about ready to pack my shit and go home, Then we started the hill up to the finish I was sitting at the back thinking that with the slow pace even if we went hard no one would get flicked. Boy was I wrong. We wern't even going hard a guys were falling apart all around me so I decided to move up. There were flashes of Yellow and big rear hubs going buy me (Jesus Meters) Remember guys a number on a screen means shit when its gut check time. Over the top we go 1 lap down. The field started to yo yo 15/25/15/25, which was killing me I'm not use to that shit it was like doing intervals, LT agreed with me when I was bitching about it. I'd rather go 30 all day long lock in and suffer than do that bullshit. Two guys went off the front midway on the back section and got a good gap I new that was the move but being by my self I had to bide my time. Looking around I noticed that the Field was down to about 50 guys I was like whoooo what would these dopes do if the race was hard? We started to move a little bit on rt 7 this lap but nothing earth shattering. The 2nd time up the climb I stayed near the front, for fear of a 1 st lap repete. It was nice to climb in my comfort zone. I haven't done that in a race in awhile. Over the top last lap is for the men as they say. The two guys up the road had 2 minutes on us going over. I said to LT that if it came down to a sprint it looked good for him hoping that he would use Tullio to chase, but that didn't work so I went to plan B which was to counter a Rogerdodger move that was bound to happen. It came early on the backside so when everyone went after him I stayed near the front and waited for them to bring him back, then I was off kinda hoping that a few others would have the same idea, nope I was on my own. Then I saw Rob (next) Latanz coming across so I eased , up when he go to me we started to hammer we were doing like 30 the whole way to rt 7 when we went around the corner I looked back and we were gone. My legs wern't so good today but I was hunkered down for the long haul to the finish. We traded off relay good for awhile but the wind was killing me. When I was on his wheel I felt great but when I was on the front I was felling smoked. Then we could see the two leaders coming back to us, I tried to get Rob to reel them in slowly but he just went harder (fuck me). We were just about on and on the last pitch before you go down hill a little and then turn on to the finish climb. For me this was GUT CHECK TIME I failed miserably. I don't even have a Jesus Meeter to blame. Rob jumped across, and left me to ask my self what went wrong, was it lactate threshold , A T , endurance maybe a high white blood cell count. Coach Iden help! Then I saw the Beaver and lucky charms coming up to me so I waited for them and jumped on. Then I hear the question of the day. Lucky Charms say to me Ron take a pull, my reply was if i could pull I would still be in the winning move. Beaver then attacked getting a 5second gap I thought we would catch him on the finish hill. We turned to go up to the finish Lucky was pulling to bring back the Bev but to no avail. We rolled in abut 10 seconds behind the winner's. SO that's it I'm a little rusty but give me a few reports and I'm sure they will be more entertaining.
