What the fuck , I have never seen a race that's was more ridiculous than this one . Let me give you some background on the race . It use to be the best Pro-Am race on the east coast , 96 miles 30 places big money . It gave you a look into how a pro race goes down . A flattish 20 mile loop done 3 times then a 4k crit like loop to make up the rest of the distance . The race in the last two editions have been less than stellar . The promoter has not been able to get the permits to close the roads on the big loop , which sucks .
Now the race , It was on the 4k loop that the race usually finishes on . Its a great loop with 50 or 60 guys that will hit it in the long version of the race but with 170 guys from the gun it sucks . The course goes from a wide 2 lane main street like road , much like rt10 on the SPG ride . Then funnels down to a one lane road about as wide as a driveway with a 8% grade 300 meter climb . If your at the back you have to almost track stand at the bottom . Guess where I was at the start ? After the climb you wind down hill with a few lefts and rights close together no real place to move up . I got in the whip and the pace was fast , I kept calm and planed on moving up slowly so as not to blow up . The problem was guys would sit up in the line in front of you and you had to chase to close the gap . At one point the front of the race was going through a corner that was three corners ahead of the one I was in , that's when you say to your self how the fuck am I going to get up there . The answer is ? You are not . Guys just kept packing in front of me and you can make so many digs before you are the one that packs . In a race like this you just have to try to stick in until the pack wit ells down to the right size for the road that there on . Unfortunately only Mike ,Sal and Tom made the selection. Rob Dave and I where OTB . Mike went off the road on the climb a few laps later so we were down to 2 guys left . The race kept shattering and reforming you needed to have a sizable presence to go with all the moves . It was not to be . Great ride for Tom and Sal the wrestler .
I think its time for a few weeks off from racing to try to get my head and legs back . If anyone wants to go head to head on some Guitar hero let me know .

Wow! Lots of misfortune, mistakes, and excuses. That sounds like a Stage1 race report. I think it is about time you paid a visit to the Bubble Boys for some Tuesday night parking lot pizza and beer!
Yup it sounds just like that, oh yea execpt it was a Pro invite race not a cat 3 or masters race . Something you will never be in .
real men are decided by 5 plastic buttons, and a whammy bar. screws bicycles.
