First off I'd like to say that Mike did not hurt his calf by running he had a Bakers cyst that ruptured . Don't listen to any Bubble boys for info they are like a bunch of school girls .I drove to the ride today due to the Bronchitis that I'm getting over from last week . I didn't know how the legs would feel after a week and a half off . The plan was to sit in and pray. The wind was out of the north at about 20mph so the ride started slow . A group went off early on the back roads with Curtie leading the way . I told E no worries he would grind Crowell and co to a pulp and they would come back on there own . We just kept tempo and low and behold there they were flailing in the wind . When we rode past them they all look gassed . We hit the Southington ski slope and the ride was at a heavy tempo . At the turnaround the ride somehow split . This is where the bonehead move of the day came . Guido thinking that his name was Jan pulled for about a 1/2 mile right to the bottom of the hill and then got himself dropped . I made the group of 6 over the top of the hill and was pretty comfortable so that was a good sign. I will say that I wasn't to broken hearted that we got the light at Target . After that we sat up and waited for what was left of the group . The ride was pretty much the same old same old the rest of the way in . Next week will be a fast one I predict .

Rondo, I agree that there was a lot of misinformed chatter by certain people about the cause of Mike's "calf issue". I should point out, though, that the group that brokeaway early in the ride waited (to be fair, it was driven by Chris C and Curt D) for ~ 4 minutes on Moss Farms and later on Marion Rd. (i.e. soft-pedalling @ ~ 17 mph)for the larger peleton. I can say this b/c I was dropped from the early break just b-4 the Notch store and easily caught the lead group while it was 'waiting' for the others. That said, I look forward to the even faster ride you are forecasting for next week. count me in. Hope your bronchitis i sclaered then.

Let the winter world championships begin.
Bionic is correct Rondo. I know you thought it was your super strong efforts that caught us but the truth is that we waited for the group. We thought that there was not way that we could have gotten that much of a gap so early so we thought someone must have crashed so we sat up. We just soft pedaled after the light. Also, if we were so gased when you passed us, how does it explain me blowing by you on the top of the West Street hill. Anyway, glad to hear that Robyn is OK. See you guys next week.
