I drove out to the S&S parking lot and met up with the bubble brain trust. Mike showed up with his new circle of friends. Pinky's out guys he lives in Glastonbuy now. We strolled down to the Giant, thinking that we were riding into a headwind. When the ride started I soon found out that we were wrong. The back roads had just been paved so it was less stressful of a start. The ride was pretty easy out to the light t rt68 due to the wind. After the light the ride started to pick up. After the chicane E and Ciocci decided to motor pace up the rise before the turn. The gap that they eked out wasn't much. This lead to the brain trust to lead an assault to jump to the gap. Now there was a group of 5 with 5 second gap and a few guys in between and the pack. We absorbed the guys that didn't make the move except for one, that is. This was to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen in all my cycling days. Chris Mahoney was about 10 meters behind the break and 10 in front of us. OK you cant make this shit up, with his head down he went from the middle of the road to the curb. He hit the fuckin curb, goes superman into the air then into a full roll. Now comes the funny part. In the middle of his roll he says I'm OK. He hadn't even stooped crashing yet, and was tell us he was alright. The ride was all strung out and sad as it may seem, there was no time to stop for him. My rule is if you take your self down then your punishment is to catch back on your self. The ride came back together at the light. I figured that Chris got on, there guys were saying he was alright so the ride pressed on. Next on the menu was the pave' sector after the ski slope. The word on the street was that they just put down 3/4 inch binder stone. Mike and I disguised the best way through and came up with fast and lose. It's the only way to get through the rough stuff right? We hit the stones hard and fast. I was on E's wheel and I think Mike was on mine. 50 meters in I hit a big ass rock and insta-flatted. Then E and Mike did too. I think at least 10 guys flatted on the stones. A big group waited for us but we lost big time. We decided to take the shortcut at Jude lane. The way I look at it we were the laughing group now and there was no need to hammer the rest of the way in. You know a nice 20-22 mph ride in. Not to be. Crowell and E turned onto Jude and we were going 30 mph. There were guys that had just waited for us getting shelled out the back. My tire had a massive hole in it so I left it soft and planed on just stopping at S&S. I rode in with a few of the casualties of war. I dont know wht happened after Milldale. It was an eventful day to say the least.

Its a bird! Its a plane! No its a triathlete.
bad things happen when you try to go fast in November.
Word is Mahaoney was taken down by a gust of wind.
maybe we should try an alternate rt next week if Mt Vernon is still messed up
We could do the famous Miguel miss the dirt section loop!!
Unfortunately, I missed the Mahoney tumble. It was definitely a funny ride.

Solin.
No problem, Solin. I had the pleasure of soft-pedaling it in with Ron.
Rondo, you're too old to be pushing such a big gear this time of year.
