11/22/10

Robyn and I started out at 9am to go meet the guys at Cafe' Romeo. The cast was E, the mad cyclo cross man and Bengay. The wind was in our face as usual. At the park the cast had assembled. The ride left with a stiff head wind bahhhha. There was a nice group of 10 guys willing to set the pace into the wind. I was pretty surprised at that. Notables were E, Crowell, Mike, Hippie Chris, Jacinto and me. When we got to the light at rt68 there wasn't much damage. I think that the pack fodder thought the ride was going easy. Let me tell you this, anyone that was working didn't think so. Here is where I give the loser of the day award out. The winner is (drum roll) the guy on the BMC. You know the guy in all black, if he could bottle up all his nervous energy he could go to the moon and back. I know I know you thought that Bengay and his pace line skills was going to get the award. You cant give it to the same guy every week. The group of ten was pretty solid all the way to the turnaround. Once on the hill Mike took the reigns. When he hit the corner Jancinto tryed to come around Mike and the big guy pushed him wide. I knew this was going to be a good one to the sprint at the top of the hill. Mike stayed on the front all the way with some help from E. When the sprint started Mike went from a long way out. Jancinto started to come around him but Mike took him to the curb. He tried again and was put to the curb again. Ed and I discussed it and give it the OK, sprinting is not for the faint of heart. Welcome to the big league's Jancinto. The pack was smoked from the head wind and didn't set the world on fire on the way back. I was in the small ringing so I just sat in with the wind at our backs. I did see some all out sprinting at the finish from Zeroff. No standing after the 1km to go banner. We rolled back to the Haven and the fucking wind changed directions. Its like when I had to walk to school up hill both ways when I was a kid.

Rondo,

From the way you write and spell, my guess is that the hill was so damn long...you got lazy and never actually made it to school.

The Mount Vernon paceline was a bit scary. After coming through, I didn't expect my front wheel to get chopped after coming off the front.
Guess I need to pay more attention to the angry peloton.

Wait... You mean you're NOT supposed to get chopped coming off the front??

Sounds like you are a recovery line racer. You have to easy off after pulling.

Jacinto took it, hands down. Hell, I could see it from here . . . And you know where I am.
