GREAT GOGLI MOGLI!!!!!!!!!!

Wow what a fucking day. I started out solo (surprise, when I say it was fucking cold it was 9 when I left the house. The wind was in my face the whole way to S&S. I was riding as hard as I could at one point and going 13mph. I had a set of brakes for McG and I wasn't sure if I was going to make it in time to give him them. I just made it and to tell you the truth I wasn't that cold but when we rolled down to the park I froze my balls off. I thought about going home but I new that once the ride started I would warm up. The ride started off at a good pace do to old Krusty taking off. That was good though, I warmed up quick. The pace was steady and didn't get going hard until the false flat after the ski slope. The pace heated up at the turn around. Jancinto and Ed A took off, I went off in-pursuit. Krusty came with me I caught them just before the turn at the light. I drove the pace to the sprint and Krusty and Jancinto went for it I think the latter got it. They pressed on I sat up and waited for the group and everyone was back together at the bottom of the hill. The ride settled in but was still moving along do to the tail wind. Kursty and tall guy Jim attacked at the greenhouses. The pack let them go a few guys started to chase once on rt10. Guido, Jancinto and I went after them at the jail. Tall guy Jim was the first to come back we had Krusty in our sites but backed off when it was apparent that he had the S&S hill we rode up to him at the rt68 light. With the wind at our backs and the gap in place the break was done deal. I think some guys dropped out at S&S (PUSSY'S). I was a little stuffed at the end but its only January. The ride home was cold, I had to do another hour once back in the hood. I opted to ride on the trainer (what a fag). I think that's the biggest Beardcicle of all time.

Rondo,

I'm reading this great book on the US Civil War. There is an interesting chapter on how German emigres, fleeing the failed Revolutions of 1848, backed Republicanism. Seeing it as a bulwark against racism and hopefully eradicating the barbarity of the free-labor system, they were far more inclined toward it than the Know Nothing Party. Among the 200,000 German Americans that fought in the war for the North, there 36,000 fighting in all German speaking units.

If only we hadn't forced Versailles . . .

What are the roads like in Hamden/Cheshire/Southington? More importantly, what do you think they will be like in the morning? Looks like Hamden got a lot of snow. Can somebody please advise so those of us that have to drive far don't waste our time (if there's no ride, that is)? Thanks,

Pete J

Dennis drove on Brooksvale yesterday afternoon and said it was not ridable. I've got the sniffles today otherwise I'd be there.

Main roads ok, secondary roads not safe enough to make it worth the effort.

Thanks for the reconnaissance guys.

-- roads not 'rideable' in the 'bury towns either. may try tyhe state roads (Rt. 47, 132, etc.) in the p.m.
